FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Town of Ingersoll Monitoring Worldwide Threats
The Town of Ingersoll is closely watching the evolving events in the Middle East and its global security implications. Currently, there are no confirmed threats. Our top priority is public safety, and we encourage reporting any hate-motivated incidents to the OPP.
A statement from the OPP is as follows:
While the OPP respects the right of everyone to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, everyone also has a right to a safe environment," it tweeted on Friday morning. "All those involved in a demonstration have a responsibility to ensure the event remains lawful, peaceful, and safe.
We understand members within our community are deeply affected and want to assure Ontarians that we continue to focus on public safety. Report any allegations of hate-motivated crime to the OPP or your local police.
Anyone reporting a life-threatening emergency should call 911 immediately, while those reporting other incidents can call 1-888-310-1122.
